McTigue chose roughly 40 photographs from her travels to Europe to Utah -- as well as her own backyard, where she snatched a shot of a red-bellied woodpecker momentarily perched on the trunk of a tree.
“I took this when I was 18 - it was probably 1969,” she said of a black and white photo of a man from overseas. Others were taken earlier this year.
At least two items sold before the opening event. Some of the pieces are in on galvanized metal, or wood, created with printer Barbara Degraw of Harvey & DOT.
“It’s very exciting to try something so different," McTigue said. "She said this would look good. It’s somewhat a trial and error, but I’m delighted."
Some of her works feature McTigue's husband on fishing trips. Others are portraits, leaves, and various landscapes.
Occasionally, getting the best shot means traveling through poor weather, decrepit neighborboods or sacred spaces.
A wall of portraits range from a World War II POW to beggars, an old woman in Ecuador, and a budding young female figure skater.
Some of the shots also appear as optical illusions.
“I call it a visual puzzle. You really don’t get it until you stare and figure it out,” McTigue said.
The photos will remain on display until the end of the month.
